Red Cap Hot Sauce Co. Unveils First New Flavour Since Launch

BURLINGTON, ON – After three years of bringing the balanced, flavour-first, no-water-added magic of Trinidadian Peppa Sauce to Ontario kitchen tables, Red Cap Hot Sauce Co. is finally listening to the vocal minority.

Since our 2023 launch in Burlington, we have focused on a singular family recipe - the one that sat on our kitchen table and honoured our father’s legacy. We’ve always prided ourselves on a "flavour-first" approach using hand-selected scotch bonnet peppers, herbs (cilantro and culantro/chadon beni/bhandanya), and fresh squeezed lemon and lime juice to compliment. 

However, a recent customer survey revealed a startling statistic: 15% of you are absolute gluttons for punishment. One customer recently noted that while our Peppa Sauce is incredible, "It’s hot, but it’s not 'burn your pants off' hot." Challenge accepted. Today, Red Cap Hot Sauce Co. officially announces "The Scorched Trousers." We have stripped away the "sweet and savoury" balance of our traditional scotch bonnets and replaced them with a volatile blend of Trinidad Scorpion and Carolina Reaper peppers.

"We’ve spent months in our Burlington lab ignoring everything we know about quality and balance," says the Red Cap Team. "We’ve created a sauce that doesn't just elevate your breakfast sandwich — it actively tries to give you bragging rights that you could beat Mike Jack at any of his Guiness World Record breaking stunts. It's definitely hotter than Hot One's 'Da Bomb' and possibly hotter than 'The Last Dab.' We hope Sean Evans would approve.

 

KEY FEATURES OF "THE SCORCHED TROUSERS" HOT SAUCE:

  • Heat, heat, and more heat: We've swapped our cherished locally-grown scotch bonnets for Trinidadian scorpian peppers and reapers.
  • No herbs: We've learned that thrill seekers don't need any balancing flavours to bring out the best in their eggs/tofu scramble, pizza, pasta, burritos or other dishes.  So we've simply removed cilantro and culantro/chadon beni.
  • Zero Citrus, All Chaos: We’ve replaced our signature fresh lemon and lime juice  with pure, unadulterated liquid regret.  Don't worry, like the original, we still don't see any need to add water to this sauce.
  • The "Pants-Off" Guarantee: If your trousers are still intact after one drop, we haven’t done our job.
  • Traditional Red Cap Style: It still features the iconic red cap in honour of our late father, though he likely would have told us we’ve gone mad

 

AVAILABILITY:

While we prepare for the inevitable lawsuits, "The Scorched Trousers" will be available for pre-order starting April 1st. For those who prefer to keep their taste buds (and pants) intact, our original, authentic Peppa Sauce remains available at Whole Foods, Nature’s Emporium, Goodness Me and other tasteful retailers across Ontario, online at Healthy Planet and Amazon.
